REACH Seminars organized by SGEPC on “Compliance with REACH” in Meerut, Jalandhar, and Gurgaon on 1st, 2nd and 3rd July resp.
SGEPC organized REACH awareness seminars for all its member exporters. The objective of the seminar was to inform the industries about their REACH obligations .
REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals. It is a EU regulation which aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risk posed by chemical substance.

According to this, all exporters exporting to Europe have to assume greater responsibility for providing the necessary information on the safe use of certain specific substances transmitted along the industrial supply chain. REACH service is a complicated multi step process and needs serious understanding and attention to ensure that Indian exporters are not adversely affected.

Sports Goods Export promotion Council, in association with Intertek, organised this seminar for better understanding of this issue.
Ms. Sunanda, Speaker and expert on Reach from intertek conducted the seminar.
The speaker spoke on a range of topics which included the following:
• REACH OVERVIEW
• KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR INDUSTRY
• WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW
• WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE SPORTING GOODS INDUSTRY
Seminar concluded by saying that REACH offers a mixed bag of challenges and opportunities and that the Sports industry should rise up to the challenge.

The seminar was well attended by the industry. The question and answer (Q&A) session saw interactive discussions between the industry and the speaker. It had resulted in a much better level of awareness and knowledge for Indian sports industry on REACH.
